"Garden and Gun" ranks up there with the great magazine titles I have heard, although surely not beating my top entry: Manure Manager, an actual glossy.

I'll have to track down a copy of Manure Manager! After years of joking about the magazine when I saw it on the racks at the grocery store, I learned Garden and Gun got its name from the Charleston, South Carolina's best gay disco of the 1970s, which established itself as a private club for understandable reasons. After having my Yankee prejudices undermined, I learned the also have great content on literature and conservation.

I just happened to be reading "Wildwood" by Roger Deakin, (the whole book is wonderful!) when this newsletter popped up. Deakin also writes of the intersection between the Jaguar (car) and nature, in another place and time, describing the harvesting and processing of the rare walnut veneer that is used inside. If you haven't read it, you may find it interesting.
