Often, it is better that we do not know the plot of the slow drama that plays out in wild places. Unforeseen wonder rather than predictable tragedy.

Love chiltepin! I am very fortunate to have several plants on my patio in Tucson there were brought by the birds. I once had a delightful surprise when I found a plant in my oleander hedge in Bisbee, right around Christmas, it’s tiny red globes of heat glowing like the ornaments they are.

I could've probably transported my mother-in-law in a backpack carrier, but only in those final weeks when she had Desiccated to a wisp. Accolades for the excellent ALT text image descriptions.

Ringtail! I heard a story long ago from a beloved ornithologist that he once was surveying wood duck boxes and opened one to find a ringtail hissing at him, both of them severely startled.

Do you have a specific trail cam you recommend, or was it just a matter of "get one that seems good"?

A friend gifted me this imaginative book and, since you are a word-smith, I thought you might also enjoy it: The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows, by John Koenig, 2021. (Not sure word-smith is a word but I intend it as one who vastly, and creatively, loves words.)
